E. Jakarta Administration Cooperates with Academics for RPTRA Social Mapping

Construction of 11 Child-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA)s in East Jakarta is targeted to be completed this year.

Academics' perspective is independent compared with government's planner that sometimes is top down. So as the governor's direction, the model construction is should be bottom up

Head of East Jakarta Women's Empowerment Agency, Hendri Novtrizal stated, currently the construction is on social mapping step.

"It's on progress, we're trying social mapping. As there are steps for the process, including social mapping, physical planning and construction," he stated, Wednesday (8/19).

September, Untung Jawa Island to Have RPTRA

In social mapping, he continued, the government involves academics from University of Jakarta (UNJ) and Ibnu Chaldun University (UIC) that chosen based on its distance.

"Academics' perspective is independent compared with government's planner that sometimes is top down. So as the governor's direction, the model construction is should be bottom up," he explained.

The academics involved are in charge for giving suggestion and socialization the RPTRA construction to citizens in the determined locations, including designing the RPTRA with citizens.

"For example in constructing play ground whether it needs sport field or not. Thus it would be right on target as citizens needed, eventhough not all of citizens' necessities accomodated. The physical construction will be started in September," he dis closed.
